The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to mentor junior staff. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Reporting Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Ensure accuracy of general ledger entries and reconciliations Manage month-end and year-end closing processes Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules Compliance & Controls Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations Monitor and improve internal controls and accounting procedures Taxation & Statutory Reporting Prepare and review tax filings (VAT, GST, withholding tax, income tax, etc.) Ensure timely submission of statutory returns and regulatory reports Coordinate with tax consultants and regulatory authorities as required Accounts Management Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Review bank reconciliations and cash flow statements Monitor expenses, accruals, and provisions Team Support & Process Improvement Guide and review work performed by junior accountants Assist in process improvements and system enhancements Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities
