Job Description

A Field Supervisor oversees and manages field operations, leading a team of field workers (technicians, laborers, operators, etc.) to ensure work is done efficiently, safely, and according to quality standards. This role acts as a bridge between on-site crews and management, coordinating schedules, training, reporting, and resource allocation.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

Team Supervision & Leadership
Lead and manage a field crew (technicians, operators, subcontractors).
Assign daily tasks and rotate assignments to optimize productivity and cross-train staff.
Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to field staff.
Evaluate performance regularly and give feedback.
Planning & Scheduling
Coordinate work schedules in collaboration with project managers or planners.
Plan resource needs (labor, equipment, materials).
Ensure preventive maintenance (or regular planned work) is done per schedule.
Safety & Compliance
Promote safety as a top priority; conduct toolbox talks / safety meetings before work begins.
Monitor compliance with safety protocols, PPE usage, and correct working practices.
Report accidents, near-misses, or unsafe situations.
Ensure work complies with legal, contractual, or regulatory requirements.
Quality Control
Inspect work in progress and after completion to ensure it meets quality and contract specifications.
Identify areas for process or work-method improvements.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports as required by management.
Maintain accurate records for timesheets, equipment usage, materials, and inventory.
Use and maintain relevant software / systems (e.g., CMMS for maintenance work) to log data.
